4. HISTORICAL GALLERY AT TRIENNALE
P. De Amicis
Preparation of the 1996 exposition The Historical Gallery of the Triennale, 1933 1968, taking place in Palazzo dell'Arte.
Use of documents available in the Triennale archives (mainly photographic documents).
This staging constitutes a representation of the structure of the exhibition as a whole, that means to show the ways in which the more significant spaces of Palazzo dell'Arte have been used and modelled in the past by the various exhibitions that took place during the International Exhibitions. The comparative approach highlights on the one hand the historical evolution of the architectural styles and languages (with a look at the different geographical areas); on the other, it allows for a consideration of the architectural project's ability to determine the character and the functionality of the residential spaces, by keeping the container unchanged. The preparation enacts the relationships on the basis of a matrix that intersects the Exhibitions and their themes with the locations and spaces, so that a comparative reading of the relationships is facilitated and made comprehensible without being biased.
